The guidelines refer to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), which provide a framework for making digital content accessible.

Each guideline outlines success criteria and suggestions to meet it.

The guidelines app uses the latest version of the standards, WCAG 2.2.

Each card has an ‘Ask Ari’ button that takes you to Ari AI, where you’ll be given a detailed explanation of that guideline.

There are four levels of contrast ratios.

These cover WCAG AA and AAA in both normal and large text. Normal text is considered 16px and large 18px and above.

The ratios for each are level of the standards are:

• AA Normal - 4.5
• AA Large - 3
• AAA Normal - 7
• AAA Large - 4.5

The Contrast Checker app can confirm if two colours fall within these ranges.

Low contrast levels can prevent some users from being able to read or interpret content.

This could mean important information within a website can't be perceived by some users.

The contrast checker has been tested against similar tools and provides accurate contrast level calculations.
